Explore the Science Behind Warmth, Architecture & Polar Living!

How can a house made of snow keep you warm? Let's uncover the secrets of polar architecture through hands-on science experiments!

This Christmas, let your child become a little polar explorer, scientist and architect!

Architectural Thinker by Muses Education proudly presents Polar Igloo and Insulation Experiments, a special Christmas programme designed for children aged 2.5–12.

Combining architectural thinking with exciting science experiments, this hands-on course introduces children to temperature changes, heat transfer, insulation materials and the fascinating structure of polar igloos.

Through age-appropriate activities, students will experiment with different materials, measure temperature changes, construct igloo models and discover how building design can help retain warmth.

From sensory exploration for toddlers to scientific investigations and engineering challenges for older children, every lesson encourages curiosity, creativity, logical thinking and problem-solving.

Course Highlights

01 Hands-on Science Experiments

Explore temperature changes through real experiments using warm water, thermometers and everyday materials.

Children will learn through observation, prediction and testing, discovering how different materials affect heat transfer and insulation.

02 Architecture Meets Science

Why are igloos dome-shaped? How do thick walls and trapped air help retain warmth?

Students will explore the relationship between architectural forms, building structures and insulation, connecting scientific principles with real-world architectural design.

03 Scientific Observation & Data Analysis

Develop scientific thinking through age-appropriate activities.

Younger children will practise observation, prediction and comparison, while older students will measure temperatures, conduct fair tests, record results, draw graphs and analyse experimental data.

04 Design, Build & Test Polar Homes

Put scientific knowledge into practice by building igloo models and polar research stations.

Students will explore different construction materials, test insulation performance and improve their designs through hands-on experimentation.

Limited-Time Early Bird Offer!

Register and complete payment on or before 15 November 2026 to enjoy our special Early Bird prices.

Learning Tools & Important Information

Students will explore a variety of age-appropriate scientific tools and materials, including:

Thermometers and timers

  • Warm water and insulation materials
  • Foam, felt, cotton and aluminium foil
  • Paper cups and igloo construction materials
  • Experiment worksheets and data-recording tools
  • Graph paper and calculators for older age groups

Safety & Supervision

All experiments are designed with age-appropriate safety measures.

Warm water will be prepared and temperature-checked by instructors. Boiling water will not be used, and students will not be required to carry hot water.

The programme does not require real snow or ice. Activities use safe, everyday materials to recreate polar-themed experiments.

Our Christmas programme is offered at selected centres across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories.
